WIDE SPAN SHELVING-BULK STORAGE RACK, NEW-USED, Interlake. COLUMBUS, OHIO
Wide Span Shelving (Bulk Storage Rack)
Let’s not confuse Wide Span Shelving (occasionally called Bulk Storage Racks) with Rivet Shelving as they are two uniquely different storage type systems. Wide Span is a cost-effective, boltless storage system generally used for hand stacking/storing of medium to heavy loads and is ideally suited for storing small stocks of many different product types. Is resembles Pallet Rack closely in design (Uprights, Beams and Decks). This type of shelving is a common type of storage shelving which bridges the gap between standard commercial grade (open or closed) steel shelving (which has shelf and height size limitations) and standard Pallet Racking. This system features larger available shelf sizes, generally up to 96” wide and up to 60” deep.
- Upright capacities up to 9,570 lbs.
- Beam Capacities up to 3,021 lbs.
Advantages
- Quick, easy assembly
- Each shelving module adapts to any load configuration
- Z-Beam design houses galvanized steel shelf panels, reinforced wire decking, hanger beams for storing textiles and clothing or particleboard
- In stock and available for immediate shipment!
Wide span shelving also features greater shelf capacities than rivet or standard commercial grade steel shelving. Unlike Pallet Rack which incorporates a 3”W column, Wide Span Shelving generally uses a 2”W column which allows for greater versatility and increased storage space.
Appearance wise, how does Wide Span Shelving differ from standard Pallet Rack?
We are often asked of the differences between Wide Span Shelving and standard Pallet Rack. Though Wide Span Shelving is similar conceptually to Pallet racking as it utilizes Uprights, Beams and Wire Decks, Wide Span aesthetically is different in it’s basic design. As you will note above, the Uprights bolt together (which saves freight/shipping). The cross members and foot plates bolt together. Though the Beams are more similar top standard Pallet Rack, you will note the connection points as well as the hole configuration on the Uprights are different.
Wide Span Beams are available in two different designs… one has a flat top design and the other one includes an upward lip for securing in place particleboard, steel decking or wire decks.
Where is Wide Span Shelving used?
Wide Span Shelving is a popular choice when designing multi-level pick locations like car dealerships or auto parts retail facilities. The system is generally accessed on foot, either at floor level or from elevated walkways fitted between racks. Wide span shelving features multiple types of decking (wire, steel or particle board) and is similar in design to pallet rack as it utilizes three basic components… uprights, beams and decking. Pair this rack solution with stairs and catwalks to create multi-level storage, maximizing the height of your project.
